The Learning Journeys teams are very excited to showcase the innovative work they have been doing, and to broaden the conversation to envision ways to move the projects forward. Each of the projects is co-led by immigrant women and responds to the challenges most often faced by immigrant women in their journeys towards their goals. Groups have designed and tested ideas to lead to better service delivery including:
- identifying key elements of culturally responsive mentorship models, and
- bringing the voices of immigrant women to the call for quality, affordable childcare in BC,
- collaborating with immigrant women through peer support groups to explore how women can support one another in their most difficult issues.
We are hopeful that leaders in the settlement and community service sector can join us to celebrate our accomplishments, explore collaborative opportunities, and gain insights from those positioned to influence the system. Your perspective on how groups might move their project forward, as well as any possible resources or expertise you can bring to the conversation would be much appreciated.
